Gilberto Cavazos-González

As a spiritualogian, I am a theologian dedicated to the study of the lived experience of Christian spirituality as found in the spiritual classics, contemporary culture, society, religion and especially in the Christian cotidiano (daily life). Although I got an initial glimpse of the difference between Spirituality Studies and Spiritual Theology during my doctoral studies in Rome, membership in the SSCS in the USA has helped me to deepen and appreciate this distinction. The beauty and the wealth of the SSCS is the variety of its membership which gives depths to our reflection and encouragement to our insights. As a theologian from an underrepresented community in the Academy to be a part of the SSCS has given me a place to have my voice heard as I have challenged and been challenged by my fellow spiritualogians and theologians of spirituality.
